What You Need
Gather these supplies before you start:
1 kraft cardstock oval, about 8 × 9 cm
8 plum purple pipe cleaners, about 9 cm each
6 teal painted wooden popsicle sticks
White and black paper scraps for two eyes
Coral cardstock scrap for one smile
Craft glue
Child-safe scissors, pencil, and ruler
How to Make It
1Step 1: Cut the backing
Cut an 8 × 9 cm oval from kraft cardstock and place it at the center.

2Step 2: Attach the legs
Bend eight plum pipe cleaners once. Glue four along each side of the backing so their inner ends sit beneath the oval and the bent sections extend outward.
3Step 3: Build the body
Glue six teal popsicle sticks vertically, side by side, over the backing to cover the leg joins.

4Step 4: Add the face
Glue two white paper eyes with small black pupils near the top, then add a short coral paper smile below. Let the glue dry before lifting.

Questions parents ask
How do the legs stay attached?
Glue the inner ends of the pipe cleaners to the kraft backing. The teal sticks cover those joins when you add the body.
Can younger children make this spider?
Yes, with an adult pre-cutting the small paper pieces, trimming the pipe cleaners, and covering any sharp wire ends.
